Program and Project Sponsors

 

The Transportation Enterprise was started by a generous gift from Bob and Ellen Thompson as the Pavement Enterprise in 2000. Their gift has sustained the program since 2000 by providing over 130 students with various scholarships, as well as program operational costs, equipment, and supplies.  The Pavement Enterprise was expanded to the Transportation Enterprise in 2010. The Thompson Foundation has supported numerous other educational endeavors in Michigan and Bob and Ellen are currently active in the Detroit area developing K-12 Charter schools.  For more information on their efforts see – Philanthropist’s bold education investment pays off.

The Vulcan Materials Company has provided scholarship support for the Transportation Enterprise that was been used for leadership awards.

Project Grants have been provided by General Motors, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, The Michigan Tech Rail Transportation Center, and Ford.
